We live in a toxic environment. As we get older, we’ve lived long enough for all the toxins we take in every day to build up in our bodies and create a toxic overload. So it’s not just how much you’re eating that’s causing you to gain weight, it’s WHAT you’re eating that’s causing a toxic overload in the body.

A toxic body is not only dangerously unhealthy, but it slows metabolism and decreases your ability to burn fat by 20 percent.

Detoxification is the process of removing toxins from the body, is critical to losing fat because many of the toxins the body holds onto are stored in fat cells. When the body doesn’t know what to do with all the toxins we take in every day, it stores them as fat cells. Since fat cells don’t break down easily, they weigh down the body and make it bigger.

Signs you need a detox

 

Do you suffer from the following symptoms? Bloating, constipation, indigestion, low energy, fatigue/brain fog, depression, weight gain, headaches and gut/digestion. If you answered yes to most of these symptoms, then chances are you need to give your body a break.

Just like our cars, our own internal engines are subject to waste build up and can become sluggish over time. They need an occasional tune-up and run better when clean.

How to start a detox program

The first step in starting a detox program is to eliminate all the harmful toxins found in sugar, white flour, all processed foods and introduce green vegetables and fruit. You should also aim to drink at least 2-3 litres of water a day.

If you start to focus on taking great care of your physical health, a big part of that means taking care of what you feed yourself. It’s hard to be kind, compassionate and patient with others as well as yourself when you’re filling yourself with stimulants and foods that contain very little, if any nutritional value.
